Motherhood (2025)
a film in progress by Ioanna Spanou
Threads of Motherhood is a quiet symphony of strength, a lyrical meditation on the invisible threads that bind generations of women through the sacred, complex journey of motherhood. It aspires not merely to tell stories, but to awaken recognition—to cradle the viewer in the shared heartbeat of maternal love, struggle, and transformation. In weaving the lives of a young, middle-aged, and elderly mother, the film reveals how time alters the shape but not the soul of motherhood. It is a gentle call to witness the endurance of womanhood across shifting roles and seasons, and to listen for the echo of our mothers in our own voices. As these women reflect into one another like mirrors of time, the film leaves us with a tender question rather than a conclusion—an invitation to look inward, to consider where we stand in the continuum of care, sacrifice, and identity. It is less an ending than a beginning of thought, of empathy, of connection.
